Public Notice: Lafourche Parish School Board 2020 Redistricting Plan

The Lafourche Parish School Board, working with the Lafourche Parish Council, has completed the 2020 Redistricting Plan for the upcoming fall elections. The plan, developed by the South Central Planning and Development Commission, reduces the number of school board seats from 15 to 9, matching the Parish Council. The boundaries of the two bodies will now be identical.

Redistricting is required by state and federal law every 10 years after the results of the Census are released. This process redraws the election districts in an attempt to balance the population while striving to maintain neighborhood and community representation.
